Why it works everywhere

These are not real fonts. Apps do not let you change their font, but they do accept Unicode, the list of characters every phone and computer understands. Unicode includes complete alphabets in cursive, bold, gothic and many other shapes, mostly created for maths and old typography.

Fontcopia swaps each letter for its twin in one of those alphabets. Because the result is just characters, it keeps its look when you paste it, without installing anything.

Where they will not work

Usernames on Instagram, TikTok and Discord only accept plain letters, numbers and a few signs, so styles are rejected there. Use them in your display name, bio, posts and messages instead.

Screen readers can read decorated letters one by one or skip them. Keep important information, such as a phone number or a link, in plain text.

Questions and answers

Is Fontcopia free?

Yes. Every style is free to use, with no sign-up and no app to install.

Why do some styles show empty boxes?

Your phone does not have a drawing for that character yet. Styles that can have this problem are marked. Updating your phone usually fixes it.

Do accents work?

Yes. Letters such as é, ñ or ü keep their accent as a separate mark on top of the styled letter. On some phones the accent may sit slightly off.

Do you save what I type?

No. The conversion happens on your device. Your last text is only remembered in your own browser so you do not have to type it again.
